Bussana was founded in February 1887 after the old Bussana on top of the mountain todays artists village of Bussana Vecchia - was destroyed by a great earthquake. After that the inhabitants moved to the foot of the mountain so that they can take only few minutes on foot up to the beautiful open sandy beach. To some extent there are still some untouched little stone bays where one can relax.
The beautiful church of Sacro Cuore located at the centre of the village was consecrated in 1901. The small park near the church beckons one for a walk, from where one can have a beautiful view of the sea and the Pista Ciclabiles.
